I am currently surrounded by familiar foes – boxes and boxes of books and belongings – and our ministry goal for this month is that our next update in October will find me writing again, surrounded by boxes and boxes of books and belongings, but in Krakow, Poland! We are down to the wire entering the paper-plates and plastic-forks mode, storing furniture and packing boxes to ship.
This is an unpleasant aspect of missionary life that doesn’t usually make it into newsletters, but the joy of returning to where God has called us to advance His kingdom is the prize.
And right in the middle of not having enough time for anything else, Myra and I just completed our first residency along with nineteen of our Every Nation colleagues at Asbury Theological Seminary. We are studying for our master’s degrees in Missiology (the real title is too long) in a three-year program that allows us to study mostly on the field and write about what we are actually doing.
The goal of our study is to become better at fulfilling the mission that God has given us, and we also look forward to teaching the next generation to effectively reach more nations. A highlight of our time together was that we were reunited with many fellow missionaries and pastors we knew from our two years in Manila, Philippines about ten years ago.

Back to our move! We will drive up to see our daughters in Chicago in a few weeks, leave the car with them, and then fly to Krakow around the 23rd. Many of you have given very generously to help with this move, but we still need more to reach our goal which covers flights, shipping, setting up a new home, and leasing a vehicle.
